Power Amplifier Design with Cadence AWR Microwave Office and Modelithics Models

Learn how to design, simulate, and optimize a high-efficiency RF Power Amplifier using Cadence AWR Microwave Office, leveraging Modelithics advanced transistor and passive models for accurate, real-world performance. The workshop emphasizes practical PA design flow: from schematic to EM layout, and from nonlinear simulation to yield analysisi

Who Should Attend:

EE engineers with basic knowledge of RF and Cadence AWR familiarity (beginner or above)

Workshop Agenda

Lesson 1
Project Setup and Schematic Design
* Creating a new project in AWR MWO
* Importing Modelithics library and selecting appropriate nonlinear transistor model
* Building a basic PA schematic (biasing, stabilization)
* Plotting IV curves to determine Vgs and Idq operating point
🎓 Goal: Use accurate Modelithics transistor models for proper bias and operation setup.
Lesson 2
Small Signal Analysis
* Performing S-parameter simulation
* Stability check (K-factor, μ), and stability enhancement methods
* Matching network design using Smith Chart tools
* Visualizing Gain, S11, S22 across bandwidth
🎓Goal: Match for max gain using real-world device parasitics from Modelithics models.
Lesson 3
